Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. – Psalm 19:14
DAY 21: “Growing in Wisdom”
Have you ever said something you wish you hadn’t? Did you cringe when something you said was taken the wrong way?
Today in America, we need wisdom both before we speak, and as we are speaking. The book of Proverbs is a great resource to find nuggets of wisdom for application in our everyday lives. In Proverbs 2 we are encouraged to seek wisdom with as much zeal as we would in looking for hidden treasure. It is the Lord who gives wisdom, and His words are our source for knowledge and understanding. When we incline our ear toward God and open our hearts to His wisdom, He provides us with discretion to choose our words before we speak. And He gives us discernment to guide the flow of our words during conversations. We will see evidence growing in godly wisdom when we can proactively turn away from offensive discussions.
Pray that across America our conversations become distinguishable from the world. Pray that, as children of light, our effectiveness in drawing others to Him will increase rather than grow dim. Pray that we will turn to God and His Word for the wisdom to know what, when, and how to speak our thoughts and viewpoints to one another. Pray that how we feel and what we say will be acceptable to Him.
