But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord. – Jeremiah 9:24
DAY 23: “Knowing God’s Story”
Did you have a favorite bedtime story when you were a child? Did you love the story so much that you wanted to read it every night?
In Philippians, we read that our determined purpose is to know God. In the pursuit of knowing Him, we learn that gaining knowledge is a progression and to grow in Christ is to understand His story. Through His Word, we learn who God is and how He works. We embrace His promises and behold His glory. We learn about Jesus and the saving relationship we can have in Him. We find comfort knowing that He watches over us and has plans to give us hope and a future. As we become more intimately acquainted with Him, we rest in His protection. We learn how to guard ourselves against sin and how to put on the armor of God so we can stand against the schemes of the devil. The end of God’s story is filled with great anticipation because there is no end. The Alpha, the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, is coming again!
Pray that hearts throughout our country will be stirred to know God in deeper and richer ways. Pray that a revived hunger and thirst for God’s Word will return to the church and that those who are new in Christ will come to intimately know the depth of the truth that set them free!
